Reading

We have a proven reading scheme for younger children to develop their ability to read from simple text through to a range of books which they can enjoy. Coupled to the reading series are exercises in spelling, handwriting and simple comprehension which can be extended for the further study at home. Homework is an important element of learning.

As with the Maths curriculum we have structured courses for the development of language and literacy skills for children up to the end of KS2. For KS3 students we can assist with specific areas of English as requested by students. For example, we do have several foreign students who might need help with the development of comprehension skills, correct grammatical terminology or writing in an expressive or persuasive manner. For such students we have the resources they might require.

Comprehension

We can provide a range of age appropriate texts from well known educational publishers so that we can give our students exercises that will encourage them to read and answer questions based on their reading.

KS2 English

For each of our students studying English in the KS2 age range, a range of exercises are used to develop their knowledge and skills. Quite simply the students will study elements that gradually demand greater concentration and understanding as they progress toward secondary school. Creative and persuasive writing are key components of writing imaginatively and demand the careful use of language.
